We all have different phobias and mass media love to play with that. However I just found very interesting that short explanation about why Russians sometimes get misunderstood... Then we automatically forget that (maybe be cause we same race in the west) Russian mentality differs a lot of the west mainstream. On some "ever questions" many Russians would give answers you have not expected to hear them from mainstream Europeans.

It is not my point to say that there is so much phobia somewhere. After all, as you say, Russians dont look different and in a world of internet and TV, muslims or chinese make much more likely people to be scared of (stupid but true)In the UK the media stereotype of Russians is of the heroes of chernobyl or of Stalingrad and some worrying about gas supplies. How do Russians see the UK I wonder As a land of drunks and hooligans and a poisonous satellite of the USA (sadly partly true) of tea drinkers and culture, museums and cricket (also slightly true)

I don’t really feel that much russophobia in the UK

The British have happily bought Lada cars and watch RT when it is interesting.

Maybe we and the media have found other things to be scared of.
