We all have different phobias and mass media love to play with that. However I just found very interesting that short explanation about why Russians sometimes get misunderstood... Then we automatically forget that (maybe be cause we same race in the west) Russian mentality differs a lot of the west mainstream. On some "ever questions" many Russians would give answers you have not expected to hear them from mainstream Europeans. It is not my point to say that there is so much phobia somewhere.
